Three Life-Saving Health Habits

Habits can be good or bad, and while a lot of focus is put on habits that ruin your health, it’s important to take a look at what’s good for you as well.  Everyone knows that eating right and exercising is part of a responsible lifestyle, but there are specific measures you can take in these areas to increase your chances of a long, healthy life.  Take a look like what you should eat, as well as how much and what type of exercise is good for you.  A third habit involving your mental and emotional health rounds out these choices to ensure a balanced outlook.

Enjoy What You Eat and Lose Weight

Diets tend to focus on what you can’t have: no donuts, no pasta with heavy cream sauce, and no cheesecake.  But what if you viewed your diet as focusing on what you need to add instead of what you need to take away?  Also known as positive eating, this method of watching what you eat takes the focus off of deprivation and instead directs you to enjoy whatever you eat.  Gone is the idea that microwavable meals in a cardboard box that leave you feeling hungry is what you need for portion control.  Positive eating is all about enjoyment and fulfillment.

Eating Your Vegetables May Help COPD

Everyone knows that eating a balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables is important to developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  But a study published by Johns Hopkins Medical School also shows that eating certain vegetables, broccoli in particular, is now linked to lung health in patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).  How are the two connected?
